Rescues Feel the Love: Our Wellness Natural Pet Food Contest Winners
There are some happy kitties in St. Pauls, North Carolina, thanks to Shirley Gantt. Shirley was our Grand Prize winner in the Wellness Natural Pet Food Contest. She won $100 of Wellness food, and $500 of Wellness food went to the rescue organization of her choice. A devoted guardian to three rescued dogs and three rescued cats, she knows how wonderful it is to adopt one’s furry companions. She chose to share the winnings with The Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary. Shirley discovered this unique rescue organization online, and feels that blind cats “get a raw deal because people don’t want to adopt them since they aren’t perfect.”
Founded in 2005, The Blind Cat Rescue and Sanctuary was started by Alana Miller. When she worked at a local shelter, she saw that no one was interested in adopting the blind cats. The result was a nearly 100% euthanasia rate. The shelter currently cares for 80 cats and provides a safe, loving, lifelong home for every resident. You can read more about them at www.blindcatrescue.com.
Cheryl Becker was delighted to learn that she was the Runner Up Winner in the contest! She won $50 of Wellness food and $250 of Wellness food for her chosen rescue: The Arizona Beagle Rescue! Cheryl is the Foster Care Coordinator for this busy rescue, and works with 150 volunteers who give their time and love to fostering Beagles. Joy Meyer, a volunteer with the organization, said that winning the contest was “truly an answer to our prayers.” With 50-60 dogs in foster homes right now, they have been struggling to keep up with the need. You can learn more about them at www.azbeaglerescue.com and if you are in Arizona, be sure to check out next year’s big fundraiser, BeagleFest in April 1, 2012. Hundreds of beagles and their owners show up for a day of contests, raffles, exhibitors and the crowning of the BeagleFest King and Queen!
Congratulations to our lucky winners! Thank you for sharing the goodness from Wellness with two deserving rescue organizations. And thank you to Wellness for helping keep shelter pets healthy.
